Maasai Beaded Spoon
Hand carved from beautiful African Blackwood, and hand finished by Maasai women, this is one of a kind spoon. The wood is perfect, the only very slight imperfection is the wire knot slightly prodrodes at the back.
Mninga wood has a naturally appealing texture and distinctive grain.
The scoops are handmade for us in southern Tanzania by our artisan Filbert, who uses a traditional free hand carving technique allowing him to have more control over the shape. We work directly with our group of Makonde wood carvers who are renowned for their craftsmanship, a skill passed down for generations from father to son.
Your purchase supports job creation and helps to keep the tradition of wood carving in the Makonde tribe alive.
