Mchenga Soup Spoon
An elegantly shaped light wood spoon that is ideal for soup. It has been carved using an indigenous Tanzanian wood called 'mchenga' using traditional Makonde carving methods that have been passed on for generations. It is light to hold and has a wonderfully tactile finish.
It is un-polished and therefore in it's natural form. There are a few light scratches and the wood grain on the left hand side has a slightly grey tone.
We work directly with our group of Makonde wood carvers who are renowned for their craftsmanship, a skill passed down for generations from father to son.
Your purchase supports job creation and helps to keep the tradition of wood carving in the Makonde tribe alive.
