Hand carved from beautiful Mninga wood and designed with a wide rounded surface, this scoop is ideal for using with sugar.
It is also perfectly suitable for scooping spices and flour or as a kitchen pantry spoon.
These particular scoops may have some of the following; a slightly more rustic finish than our usual design / wood graining colouration / small chips / wood knots. However, they work perfectly as a scoop especially good for keeping in jars of sugar, salt and spices.
Mninga wood has a naturally appealing texture and distinctive grain.
The scoops are handmade for us in southern Tanzania by our artisan Filbert, who uses a traditional free hand carving technique allowing him to have more control over the shape. We work directly with our group of Makonde wood carvers who are renowned for their craftsmanship, a skill passed down for generations from father to son.
Your purchase supports job creation and helps to keep the tradition of wood carving in the Makonde tribe alive.
