HELLO From The Two Of Us!
Hello and welcome to our first newsletter of 2019! It seems rather belated to be saying this but we hope you've all had a great start to the year.
For many of us the beginning of a new year is always a time of good intentions. We turn our minds to setting healthier resolutions, focusing on new things and finding new and inspiring ways to step forward.
As a small business, we always have challenges and it's hard work. Each and every order you make with us is gratefully received and it is your wonderful support and custom that enables us to work with our artisan partners.
One thing we would like to do more of this year (something we've not been so good at) - as a new and inspiring way to step forward - is to share more 'behind the scenes' stories and photos with you. As this is our first newsletter of 2019 (and coincidentally National Storytelling Week!), we thought we'd start by sharing a photo of the two of us and tell you a little bit about us. We have been way too shy to show our faces online, but here we now are - that's us, up there! Aniqah on the right and Naeema on the left.
We both have strong ties to East Africa and love handmade products. Our passion for designing and sourcing beautifully unique and carefully made products inspired us to work together and start QÄSA QÄSA. Our essential goal is to support individual craft producers and small businesses through trade, helping to create a sustainable environment that adds both economic and social value. Though our products we share artisan stories allowing us to connect the makers to the buyers.
We were recently interviewed by Barron's PENTA Magazine, a lifestyle publication with the Dow Jones. They featured us in their series called 'The Good Company' - it reveals a little bit of our story and what inspired us to start QÄSA QÄSA and how we work.
